A Milwaukee man faces criminal charges after a disturbing incident that left a toddler injured from a fall off a second-story balcony. Jaimann L. Eiland, 31, was charged with substantial battery in domestic abuse and physical abuse of a child, according to reports from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and other local media.
The events unfolded on March 13, as officers were called to respond to a domestic violence situation. Upon arriving at Froedtert Hospital, they interviewed a 25-year-old woman bearing signs of assault. The woman, who has been identified as Shakira Walters by WISN, claimed that her mother's husband attacked her and threw her 1-year-old daughter from the balcony during an altercation at their residence on the 4700 block of North 41st Street.
In a detailed account of the harrowing event, Walters revealed the child, known as Stormy, miraculously sustained only bruises after the nearly 16-foot fall. "She's fine, she's doing great," Walters said in a statement obtained by WISN. "There's nothing I can really say, it's like she's just fine. As long as my baby's still breathing, that's it." Remarkably, the child narrowly missed hitting the top of an air conditioner unit, landing on the wet grass below.
The argument between Walters and Eiland escalated, according to a criminal complaint referenced by FOX6Now, with Eiland allegedly brandishing a knife and threatening the mother's life. "You gone die today," he reportedly said. Prior to the balcony incident, Eiland admitted to accidentally causing the child to cry after knocking her over in the kitchen, which ignited the conflict.
