In a gesture of solidarity and awareness, Minneapolis has aglow its I-35W Bridge and Lowry Avenue Bridge in a striking shade of orange. This illumination is not just a function of aesthetics but an emblem of recognition for March as National Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month. As confirmed through a social media post by Andrea Jenkins of Minneapolis Ward 8, both structures will light up "from dusk to dawn" in support of individuals living with this chronic disease.
It was Jenkins alongside Council Member Jeremiah Ellison who took to the council meeting this morning to co-present an honorary resolution. They also requested to painstakingly color these iconic infrastructures in support of the cause. According to the same Facebook post from Jenkins, this effort reflects a deeper narrative—a narrative punctuated by the extraordinary endeavors of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and their unwavering pursuit of a world free of MS since 1946.
An indelible footprint has been left with over "$1 billion in groundbreaking research," a sum that encompasses the organization's commitment to finding prevention methods, treatments, and an eventual cure.
