If you're in Milwaukee or anywhere in southern Wisconsin, you might want to keep your rain gear at the ready and maybe dust off those winter boots—mixed weather is rolling through the region this week. According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, an overcast sky will lead us through Saturday with temperatures hovering around 39°F and light northeast winds.
But that's not all, as the NWS predicts we're only warming up to a slight chance of rain later today. The afternoon could see temperatures fall to about 42°F with winds shifting from southwest to northeast. While the chance of precipitation might hold at 20%, things seem set to get decidedly wetter—50 percent chance tonight, folks. Brew City, you're looking at a potentially soggy end to your Saturday, so maybe opt to finally start that TV series everyone's been talking about instead of any ambitious outdoor plans.
Looking ahead to Sunday, it's going to get even messier with rain, possible thunderstorms, and a high near 56°F. That's right, you did just read "thunderstorms" in late March, and if we're lucky, none of them will achieve enough power to truly disrupt our day, despite some rumblings near the border that could toss out some hail. The NWS is clear: "An isolated storm or two near the Wisconsin/Illinois border may become strong Sunday afternoon, with hail as the main threat."
Things really start to take a turn Sunday night—rain and maybe even some snow with a low near 31°F. Transitioning into Monday, snow is likely, mainly before 7am, but accumulation looks to be minor. Through it all, the northern wind isn't planning to take it easy on us, predicted at about 15 mph. And for those counting down to the warmer days, Tuesday might not bring much relief but at least sunshine is back on the menu, with temperatures expected to creep back up into the 40s.
The rollercoaster continues through midweek with more rain predicted for Wednesday, and chances are, you'll see more precipitation before the week's end. But let's look on the bright side—by Thursday, things should clear up, and we can all enjoy some mostly sunny skies and a high around 55°F. Remember, in Milwaukee, spring is a season of change, and if you don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes—or so they say.
