MJR Theatres is leveling up the movie-going experience by introducing a new concept that combines the thrill of the latest video games with the magnetism of the big screen – say hello to RP1, a gaming and entertainment lounge set to open its doors at MJR Southgate Cinema this May. According to WXYZ News, RP1 is designed to offer gamers and spectators an immersive experience with 11-foot screens, cutting-edge gaming tech, and a social setting complemented by various food and drinks.
The space will feature semi-private zones that allow groups of up to four players to plug in and play the hottest titles out there. It's a move to redefine console gaming, turning it into a collective social event. As ClickOnDetroit reported, these zones can cater to personal gaming parties with the capacity to accommodate up to 30 people—that’s quite the bash for celebrating your kid’s birthday or leveling up your office team-building.
But MJR isn’t just stopping at gaming. The RP1 lounge will also feature live events on other screens, movies, and more, creating a versatile space that caters to a wide range of entertainment needs. Michigan Mama News adds that the location is already equipped with both an IMAX and a Laser Ultra auditorium, providing guests with premium large-format experiences to enhance every outing.
