A Monroe man has been arrested following a drive-by shooting that disrupted the relative peace of a residential neighborhood, as reported by the Monroe Police Department and the Monroe Public Safety Department. The incident unfolded late Sunday night along the 800 block of Harrison Street, in the city's south side, where police responded to a disturbance call involving several vehicles and a spotted handgun.

Upon arrival, officers heard gunshots and attempted to stop a fleeing vehicle quickly. According to a Monroe Public Safety Department post, "none of the occupants provided information or cooperated with the investigation. However, it was determined that none of the occupants were the shooter, and no weapon was found." Cellphone videos and witness statements ultimately helped police verify the occurrence of a drive-by shooting, with one of the bullets nearly hitting a 16-year-old boy inside a house.

A subsequent report revealed that a female's red GMC Terrain was vandalized and used in the shooting, while her boyfriend, a 33-year-old Monroe man, was identified as the driver and possible shooter. In a statement detailed by CBS News Detroit, the Monroe Police Department announced that "Multiple charges are being pursued in this case, including Assault with Intent to Murder and Malicious Destruction of Property."

The suspect was located and arrested without incident at a hotel lobby on LaPlaisance Road. Information provided by witnesses was instrumental in quickly resolving the situation and bringing the suspect into custody.
