In Monroe, Michigan, a gas station was the target of a double burglary carried out by three teenagers in a single night. The Monroe Public Safety Department reported that the suspects hit the Mobil Gas Station on Elm Avenue, making off with thousands of dollars in vape pens. According to The Detroit News, the police were alerted to the incident after the thieves struck twice last Saturday morning.
The same surveillance footage revealed that, after their initial theft, the individuals returned within an hour to steal more merchandise. The store's owner estimated that the theft amounted to several thousand dollars worth of products. In the wake of the incident, detectives from the Monroe Police Department swiftly identified and located all three adolescents—two of whom are 16 and the other 17—all hailing from the Monroe area.
Upon executing search warrants, the authorities recovered some of the stolen vape pens and evidence linking the young suspects to the crime. Subsequently, the teens were arrested and transported to the Monroe County Youth Center.
As detailed by the Monroe Public Safety Department's Facebook post, the arrests were a testament to the Monroe Police Department's commitment to public safety and thorough investigation. "We commend our detectives for their thorough investigation of this case," the department stated. "We will relentlessly pursue offenders, ensuring Monroe remains a safe community," they said, underscoring their dedication to justice and service to the community's citizens and businesses.
