The annual celebration of Read Across America Week, which ran from March 3 to March 7 this year, received an extra badge of honor in Montgomery County, as local Sheriff Uy took part in the festivities by entertaining school kids with a book-reading session. In an initiative to foster a love of reading among the youth, the week-long event featured various community members and leaders coming together to turn the pages and open new worlds for eager young minds.
According to a post on the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office's Facebook page, Sheriff Uy took great pleasure in his role as a guest reader. The social media post reflected on the importance of the events, stating, "TTaking place from March 3-7, 2025, this national celebration, led by the National Education Association (NEA), encourages communities to engage with books, storytelling and literacy-based activities."
The Sheriff's Office looks forward "to more opportunities in the future."
