
A severe collision involving a motorcyclist and a vehicle near State Road 16 in World Golf Village resulted in one individual being airlifted in a critical condition earlier today, as confirmed by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. The accident prompted a response from the SJSO, Florida Highway Patrol, and St. Johns County Fire Rescue, who attended the scene around 9 a.m. just before County Road 16A, News4JAX reported.
Emergency crews worked quickly to stabilize and transport the injured party to the hospital. "The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital in life-threatening condition," St. Johns County Fire and Rescue revealed. Officers from the Florida Highway Patrol arrived at the crash site at approximately 8:23 a.m., where they discovered the wreckage that would soon to go disrupt traffic in the usually serene World Golf Village, according to First Coast News.
Following the accident, significant traffic delays were evident, affecting both westbound and eastbound travelers. Specifically, the westbound and eastbound left turning lanes were blocked while the scene was being cleared. The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office advised drivers to anticipate delays as emergency personnel worked amidst the morning commute, a sentiment echoed by local traffic reports which urged caution and patience from the public, Action News Jax conveyed.
