A collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle at the intersection of S. Rainbow Boulevard and W. Flamingo Road has left one individual with life-threatening injuries. The incident, which took place yesterday at approximately 8:49 p.m., involved a northbound 2023 Kawasaki Z400 motorcycle operated by Chivas Baidiango and a 2017 Subaru WRX, driven by Esteban Geraldo, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Initial evidence and witness statements suggest that Baidiango was lawfully crossing the intersection on a green light when a Subaru WRX, stopped for a red light, entered her path, resulting in a collision. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the Subaru, leaving Chivas Baidiango critically injured and transported to the UMC Trauma Center. The driver of the Subaru, Geraldo, showed signs of impairment at the scene and was subsequently arrested on DUI-related charges.

Authorities have indicated that the cause of the accident was related to the driver’s failure to obey traffic signals. The LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
