A fatal traffic collision in Long Beach has claimed the life of a 55-year-old motorcycle rider, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The accident, which happened yesterday around 5:10 p.m. at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and 51st Street, involved a lone motorcyclist crashing into an unoccupied, parked vehicle.

Local officers, who were already present in the vicinity, witnessed the aftermath of the collision and swiftly moved to provide first aid to the injured rider. This effort was soon taken over by the Long Beach Fire Department personnel; however, despite their rapid response, the man ultimately died of his injuries following his transport to the hospital. The Long Beach Police Department has posited that the rider, now known only as a resident of Long Beach until next of kin have been notified, was traveling at a high speed which likely contributed to the loss of control leading to the fall and consequent collision.

LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Kevin Johansen is urging anyone with information to step forward. The department has provided several avenues for witnesses to share what they know; they can reach Detective Johansen directly at (562) 570-7355, or if they prefer to remain anonymous, they can contact "LA Crime Stoppers."
