
A 32-year-old motorcyclist died in a collision with an Regional Transportation Commission bus at West Charleston Boulevard and Shadow Lane on Wednesday. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, this was the 37th traffic-related fatality in their jurisdiction this year.
A motorcyclist died in a crash on Charleston Boulevard after colliding with a Regional Transportation Commission bus. Police reported the motorcyclist was traveling west on a green signal when he struck the side of an eastbound 2012 RTC New Flyer bus that was making a left turn on a flashing yellow signal. The motorcyclist was determined to be speeding. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
A passenger on the Regional Transportation Commission bus sustained injuries and was taken to the UMC Trauma Center for treatment, while the bus driver, 64-year-old Floyd Alsup, was uninjured and showed no signs of impairment. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section is investigating the incident, and the deceased's identity has not been released pending next-of-kin notification.
