Authorities in the nation's capital were quick to respond to a recent armed burglary that shook a Southeast neighborhood. According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), on the night of February 28, 2025, a residence in the 2900 block of Langston Place, Southeast, was forcibly entered by four individuals. The suspects, one of whom has been apprehended, made off with property before attempting to disappear into the night.
Efficiency marked the response of the MPD—as they managed to quickly locate and arrest one of the suspects in close proximity to the crime scene. The detained individual, identified as 37-year-old Delonte Smith of Southeast, DC, has been charged with Burglary One while Armed (Gun).
The case, however, remains open as additional suspects are still at large. The MPD is actively pursuing leads and encourages anyone with information to come forward. The police emphasize that anyone with knowledge of the incident should not approach these individuals but rather contact the authorities.
In an effort to incentivize community engagement, the MPD has announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the remaining individuals responsible for this crime. Citizens can offer tips anonymously by calling (202) 727-9099 or by texting the tip line at 50411.
While one individual is already facing the consequences of his alleged participation in the crime, the search continues for the three at-large suspects. The MPD, undeterred, remains vigilant and appeals to the public willingly to assist in their investigative efforts. For any updates regarding this case, individuals are encouraged to monitor official channels or visit the MPD's website.
