The Metropolitan Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with a recent unarmed carjacking in Northeast Washington D.C. The incident occurred on December 30, 2024, when a moped rider was assaulted and had his vehicle stolen in the 1600 block of Benning Road.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the victim was approached by the suspect around 4:48 p.m. that Monday. After the assault, the suspect took the victim's moped, which was later recovered. 

After an investigation and the issuance of a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, 22-year-old Derrick Curtis of Northeast D.C. was arrested yesterday. Curtis is facing charges for carjacking.
