
Police are searching for an individual connected to the fatal shooting of a young man at Union Station's parking garage and are asking for the public’s help. The incident occurred last month, on the evening of February 10.
The Metropolitan Police Department reported that the shooting took place around 4:37 p.m. Officers and other law enforcement agencies responded to the scene after Amtrak Police reported hearing gunshots near the bus waiting area. The victim, 18-year-old Wayne McDaniel of Northwest, D.C., was found unresponsive near the escalators leading to the parking garage. Despite life-saving efforts by officers, McDaniel was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department report, a video from the scene shows the suspect and McDaniel having a brief interaction before the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot McDaniel as he tried to flee.
The authorities urges anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
