
Early morning commuters on I-240 Eastbound experienced significant traffic delays following a multi-vehicle crash near Mount Moriah Road. The incident, which was reported at 5:20 a.m., today, has led to the blocking of the left three eastbound lanes, as well as the left shoulder, states the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). According to Action News 5, efforts to clear the lanes are ongoing, and the full clearance time remains uncertain.
Adding to the disruptions, WREG reports a similar description of the accident location, emphasizing the blockage of a three lanes on the interstate. Impacted motorists are advised to seek alternate routes where possible to avoid the bottleneck and the ensuing delays.
Compounding the traffic situation, Memphis Police have reported on not one, but three separate crashes in the vicinity on I-240. As per a statement given to FOX13, the first additional crash occurred when "a driver crashed into a ditch near I-240 and the Getwell Road exit ramp." The driver involved in this incident was cited by police. A third crash was reported shortly thereafter at 5:30 a.m., involving a driver "struck a median on I-240 near Perkins Road," according to police.
Memphis Police have yet to release full details on a potential cause of the multi-vehicle pileup or the condition of those involved.
