Residents of Nashville can expect a mix of weather conditions over the next few days, with meteorologists forecasting wind, rain, and sunshine amid a flood advisory. Today, there's a 30 percent possibility of showers post-5pm, amidst mostly cloudy skies and strong gusts that may reach up to 40 mph. While the daytime high could touch a pleasant 74°F, the evening is likely to bring thunderstorms before clearing up later, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville.
The NWS also issued a flood advisory for the Stones River near Donelson, advising locals to stay alert and avoid flooded roads. "If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find an alternative route," cautions the NWS. The advisory remains in effect until further notice, with the river's stage last recorded at 23.3 feet and slowly falling, although no forecast is available for this location currently.
Additionally, the Cumberland River at Nashville is under a similar advisory. The waters there have risen to 31.0 feet as of last night and are expected to retract to 27.5 feet by Sunday morning, but they've already reached the first grassy area of the riverfront landing and the access point near Nissan Stadium on the east side. This flood advisory is expected to lift tomorrow afternoon.
Nashville residents should brace for windy conditions as well, with a wind advisory from the NWS taking effect from 10 AM to 10 PM CDT Wednesday. South winds are predicted to maintain speeds of 15 to 25 mph, but gusts could escalate rapidly as high as 45 mph. "Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result," the advisory details. With such variable weather on the horizon, locals are urged to secure outdoor items and exercise caution while driving, especially those in high-profile vehicles.
