Two men found themselves behind bars following an overnight street racer crackdown, as the Nashville police department turned up the heat on illegal car gatherings in the city. According to a release from Nashville.gov, the South Precinct officers intervened at an intersection overwhelmed by approximately 50 cars where Joshua Gongora, 27, was reportedly igniting fireworks obstructing Blue Hole Road and Bell Road.

The situation escalated when Gongora attempted to dodge arrest, leading to a foot chase, during which he tried to blend into the crowd and slip away in surrounding vehicles, nevertheless, he was eventually detained, and officers found him in possession of marijuana along with the fireworks. As a result, Gongora faces multiple charges including inciting a riot and drug possession, and his bond has been set at $11,000.

As the night progressed, authorities tackled another disturbance, this time at a parking lot on Lebanon Pike near Shute Lane where drivers were engaging in reckless stunts, specifically performing donuts. Upon police arrival, one of the vehicles, a Nissan 370, sped away, triggering a high-speed pursuit.

The chase extended to Old Hickory Boulevard, and with a little aerial support from the MNPD Aviation, the runaway Nissan was finally disabled at Dodson Chapel Road, the driver, Oniel Alvarado-Munguia, age 22, was apprehended and now faces multiple evading arrest charges and one for driving without a license; despite the seriousness of the allegations against him Alvarado-Munguia was released on a $32,000 bond.
