Last night, a street racer was taken into custody following a high-speed chase that saw him evading law enforcement twice. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Frank Eduardo Reyes-Borrayo, attempted to outrun officers while behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger. The incident began when Reyes-Borrayo was spotted speeding on Nolensville Pike at Harding Place, prompting a traffic stop.
However, the Charger made a swift escape only to be encountered again on Edmondson Pike near Old Hickory Boulevard. Despite efforts to apprehend him, Reyes-Borrayo accelerated to 100 miles per hour, weaving dangerously through traffic and utilizing the center turn lanes to dodge the police. According to the Nashville.gov report, MNPD Aviation played a critical role in tracking the vehicle until officers could intervene successfully.
Reyes-Borrayo's run came to an end when he backed the Charger into a parking space on the 2500 block of Murfreesboro Pike, where officers made the arrest. Among the charges, he faces are felony reckless endangerment, not having a driver’s license, unlawful possession of a firearm, and two counts of evading arrest. Notably, a semi-automatic pistol was retrieved from the driver’s side door, Nashville.gov detailed.
Adding to the gravity of his situation, the officials have highlighted that Reyes-Borrayo, a resident of Dickerson Pike, is not a U.S. citizen and, therefore, cannot lawfully possess a firearm. Currently, he is detained, with his bond set at $27,000.
