
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued warnings for severe weather in the region. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are expected this afternoon, with some storms potentially reaching severe levels, including heavy rainfall. Winds and rain are expected to be significant, with a 100% chance of precipitation, and rainfall amounts could range from three-quarters to one inch.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for areas including the Chesapeake Bay, Tidal Potomac River, and the I-95 corridor, including the District of Columbia. Isolated severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and hail are possible, and tornadoes could occur. Gale Warnings are in effect for all waters until 11 PM tonight.
According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are likely before 1 AM tonight, with a slight chance of additional showers after 3 AM. The low will be around 43°F. Winds will shift from the south to the west, with gusts up to 21 mph.
Looking ahead, Gale Watches are in place for Thursday afternoon and evening. Wind Advisory conditions may be possible north of the US-50 corridor on Thursday. Spotters may be called to provide real-time updates later today.
