Once again, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Regional Training Academy witnessed the fruits of its rigorous 24-week POST certification program, as 37 freshly minted deputies took their oaths in a ceremony overseen by Sheriff Joseph Roybal. The event unfolded at New Life Church in Colorado Springs and signified a new chapter for law enforcement across the region. According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, this particular cohort not only included recruits from El Paso County but also saw the graduation of deputies and officers from neighboring Teller and Fremont Counties, among others.
Marking the sixth class to complete the training since Sheriff Roybal's tenure began in January 2023, the ceremony heralded a commitment to community service and excellence by each new officer, and alongside the El Paso graduates, recruits from the Teller County Sheriff's Office, the Fremont County Sheriff's Office, the Lake County Sheriff's Office, the City of Fountain Police Department, and the Colorado State Parole were also honored for their achievement and their promising path ahead now join the ranks of committed, badge-bearing sentinels of society.
El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal enunciated the achievements and qualities of the class, "I am extremely excited to welcome these 47 upstanding individuals to the law enforcement community of Colorado," as per El Paso County Sheriff's Office, which not only underscored their perseverance and aptitudes, but also their preparedness to embark on careers aimed at safeguarding their communities. He espoused gratitude to his fellow Sheriffs and directors, assuring them that the newly graduated officers are poised for careers marked by success and dedication to their duties.
