Austin's Parks and Recreation Department is led by Jesús Aguirre, who emphasizes the importance of listening to the community. Aguirre has 25 years of experience managing public spaces and engaging communities. He has led departments in Washington, D.C., and Seattle, where he implemented strategic visions to improve parks. Before coming to Austin, he served as CEO of Waterloo Greenway, overseeing a 35-acre urban park system while advocating for community involvement. At the upcoming session, attendees will learn about the Department's operations and Aguirre's goals, and they will have the opportunity to share their thoughts with the Director, as reported by the City of Austin.
