Relief waves through the New Port Richey community as the Pasco Sheriff's Office announces that James Dolak, the missing 85-year-old man, has been found safe. Dolak's well-being had been a deepening concern following his disappearance yesterday in the Sharon Dr. area, where he was last seen around 3:30 p.m. according to a social media post from the Pasco Sheriff's Office. The post, which urged the public to assist in the search, described Dolak as a white male with white hair and blue eyes, standing 5’6” tall and weighing around 130 lbs.
Before his discovery, there was specific concern for Dolak's safety due to his age and potential vulnerabilities, he was last observed dressed in black jeans, black tennis shoes, a black jacket, and a recognizable black Air Force baseball cap displaying "USAF" in white lettering. Complicating the matter was the fact that Dolak might have been behind the wheel of a white Chevy Colorado truck with Florida license plate number 7810US, increasing the urgency of the search as he could have traveled beyond the immediate vicinity without a confirmed direction of travel.
The Pasco Sheriff's Office expertly utilized their non-emergency line and online tip portal to gather information, which evidently played a role in the positive resolution when Dolak was found and declared safe. The importance of community vigilance and timely reporting to law enforcement when someone goes missing, particularly individuals considered vulnerable due to age or health concerns, cannot be overstated and this incident serves as a testament to that vigilance.
On social media, the announcement of Dolak's safety was succinct, his missing status there was no further elaboration on the circumstances of how he was found or his condition at this time.
