On Tuesday, residents near the Whitley water tower experienced a brief alarm as a large emergency response team was dispatched. Initial concerns pointed towards a possible fire at the water tower where maintenance was known to be ongoing. However, these fears were quickly assuaged when the emergency teams discovered that there was no fire after all.
According to a social media post from Keller Public Safety, a resident's eagle-eyed alertness led them to report what they believed to be emerging flames atop the tower. This led to quickly gathering an impressive number of responders to the scene. "YES, we had a large emergency response near the Whitley water tower earlier this evening. NO, there was no fire," clarified Keller Public Safety's post.
The issue was quickly resolved when Keller Public Safety confirmed the sighting was just the aviation light, not a fire. The maintenance work at the Whitley water tower continues, and thanks to a watchful community member and a quick response, residents can feel reassured.
