Yesterday morning, a dramatic scene unfolded in the Bronx as a school bus caught fire in the Allerton section. According to ABC7 New York, the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Allerton Avenue and Bronx Park East. Videos from the Citizen App showed the bus ablaze, with fire consuming the front end before spreading toward the back.
Fortunately, no students were on board at the time and, firefighters quickly responded to extinguish the flames. In a separate report by News 12 The Bronx, it was noted that the bus was located on Allerton Avenue in Williamsbridge, and the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) confirmed they received the distress call at 7:19 a.m. The driver and matron of the bus were unharmed, and were the ones to contact emergency services.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, with no reports of casualties or injuries. Further details on the investigation are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
