Northwest Las Vegas drivers are about to see some major changes on their roads. Las Vegas Paving Corporation is set to embark on a construction project starting on Monday, March 17, aimed at extending Sheep Mountain Parkway to Kyle Canyon Road. The ambitious project will transform the roadway into a two-lane road from Iron Mountain Road to Kyle Canyon Road, according to City of Las Vegas announcements.
The venture will also repave a section of Kyle Canyon Road, stretching from Rufus Road to Alpine Ridge Way. As part of the preparation, Las Vegas drivers should prepare to navigate slowly through a detour and maintain reduced speeds while construction is ongoing. Once the detour is paved, traffic flow will be narrowed to one lane in each direction during the repave on the detour route. Motorists should keep an eye out for relevant map updates to stay informed on the changes.
Aside from the roadway improvements, the intersection at Kyle Canyon and Iron Mountain Roads will be upgraded to enhance overall traffic flow and safety. In addition, the existing trail along Sheep Mountain Parkway is set to be extended to meet Kyle Canyon Road, creating more accessible paths for pedestrians and cyclists.
Residents with an interest in how this project progresses can expect to see construction crews at work between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., from Monday to Friday. The nine-month-long project boasts a $7.7 million budget, funded by the City of Las Vegas.
