A fire destroyed an apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City on Friday morning, displacing several residents. According to KFOR, the blaze swept through Lakeside Village Apartments, severely damaging six of the building's eight units. Residing nearby, Donavan Thompson recounted the intense heat of the fire, stating, "It got really intense when the fire kept coming like it didn’t want to stop."

The incident, reported by News on 6, not only left existing residents homeless but also impacted a family that had just recently moved to Oklahoma from Florida. "We just moved in here. We just paid rent," expressed an anguished Rosita Collins, who, along with her family, had been staying in homeless shelters before settling into their new ill-fated apartment just four days before the disaster.

Oklahoma City Fire Department crews were called to the scene near Wilshire Boulevard and Northwest Expressway shortly before 6:30 a.m., where they witnessed flames destroying the building's roof. "Everyone in this building is going to be displaced," OKCFD Shift Commander David Shearer stated in an interview obtained by KFOR. He confirmed that two of the units were unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Meanwhile, dense smoke could be observed from several blocks away as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, as per KOCO. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation while financial and material losses are being tallied.
