The New York Police Department is intensifying its efforts to capture a suspect behind a series of armed robberies at various fast-food chains in the Bronx area. Authorities have detailed multiple instances spanning a little over a week in which the robber utilized a gun to threaten employees and escape with cash, all before driving away in a black SUV. According to Gothamist, the string of thefts commenced with a Kentucky Fried Chicken in Claremont being held up around 1 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 17.

The spree continued with the suspect hitting a Wingstop in the East Bronx and a McDonald's about three miles away on Tuesday, Feb. 25, as reported by New York Post. In each robbery, the suspect revealed a firearm, demanded cash, and took flight in their getaway vehicle. Security footage captured the individual wearing glasses and a black beanie during the series of crimes.

A subsequent robbery at a White Castle in Soundview took an even bolder turn with the thief making off with an entire cash tray. This occurred early the next morning after the dual robberies on Feb. 25. Officials have released video surveillance that shows the suspect in a tense exchange with a drive-thru employee, who eventually runs away from the window. The alarming footage highlights the serious threat these workers faced.

The New York Police Department is now calling on the public for assistance in identifying the perpetrator. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect to come forward. The police department's call for tips has been echoed by New York Post, who have disseminated images from the surveillance footage and provided details for the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline, encouraging community members to aid in the investigation.
