A violent altercation on the subway has prompted the NYPD's 40th Precinct to seek public assistance in capturing a suspect wanted for assault. On Monday, a 57-year-old individual was engaged in what began as a verbal dispute on a southbound 6 train near the Prospect Avenue station in the Bronx, which escalated when the other party involved produced a knife and slashed the victim's face, according to a social media post from NYPD Crimestoppers.
Details on the incident are still unfolding, but NYPD Crimestoppers has broadcast their call for tips through Facebook, noting that the victim's encounter with the unidentified individual turned physically violent and resulted in injury, the suspect fled the scene, and now law enforcement officials are canvassing for any information that could lead to an arrest. The authorities have put forth a reward of up to $3,500 for information leading to the resolution of this case and advise witnesses or those with knowledge of the suspect to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or to submit a tip online at their website.
NYPD has not released further details about the suspect or the condition of the victim following the altercation. Members of the Bronx community and regular commuters are encouraged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
