An inmate from O‘ahu Community Correctional Center did not return as scheduled. Jason S. Takaki, 45, was on a job-seeking pass on Friday morning but failed to return to Module 20 by the 2 p.m. deadline, according to the Office of the Governor.
State sheriffs and the Honolulu Police Department were notified about the incident. Takaki is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs about 158 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair. He was previously charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, forgery, and theft, as reported by the Office of the Governor.
Takaki, a work furlough participant with pass privileges, faces a second-degree escape charge, a Class B felony with a possible five-year sentence. Authorities urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 911 or the Sheriffs at 808-586-1352, as stated by the Office of the Governor.
