Oklahomans anticipating smoother travels across the metropolitan area will be pleased to know the Midwest Boulevard bridge, which has been under construction, is inching towards completion. A recent social media post by the City of Oklahoma City - Government updated the community that the new bridge is shaping up and is expected to be ready for traffic by the end of this summer.
The bridge, essential for commuting, runs over Crutcho Creek near Northeast 23rd Street and was an important artery in the local infrastructure, was initially built in 1967 but, due to safety concerns from structural issues, had seen the close of its days and subsequent demolition in October of last year.
The City of Oklahoma has been working actively to replace this crucial piece of infrastructure, utilizing funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to make the project possible which allowed the construction to push forward without delay.
