Oklahoma City residents around NW Expressway may need to prepare for a Friday night without water as city maintenance crews gear up to replace a senior water valve. The City of Oklahoma City's Government Facebook page announced the scheduled maintenance, earmarking 11 p.m. on Friday, March 7 as the commencement time for the operation which will stretch into the early morning hours. The updates are necessary to address infrastructure that has outlived its designed utility and ensure a continued supply of water for the local community.
Areas expected to experience a water outage include neighborhoods lying between Mustang and Sara Roads from NW 150th to NW 164th Streets, and from Cemetery to Mustang Roads stretching from NW 122nd to NW 150th Streets, also covering portions between Frisco and Cemetery Roads from NW 122nd to NW 150th Streets, according to the City of Oklahoma City - Government's post. Officials estimate the water service disruption to last roughly four hours as the line maintenance crews do their work.
A work zone will be set up to protect city workers, narrowing the westbound NW Expressway to one lane just west of Mustang Road. While some inconvenience is expected, traffic will still be able to move westbound during the night’s work, as per the City of Oklahoma City.
