Oklahoma is gearing up for an educational summer with the announcement of free 2025 Summer Academies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) for middle and high school students. As reported by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, these academies offer young learners the chance to dive into STEM education through interactive projects and field trips.
These no-cost opportunities, designed to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders, are tailor-made for students entering eighth through 12th grade. They will be hosted across 14 Oklahoma colleges and universities in the summer months of June, July, and August, blending classroom learning with real-world experience. As seen on the campuses across Oklahoma, students participating in the academies will take field trips to leading science facilities and businesses, as reported by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
In fact, there's a range of 17 unique academies to choose from – seven of them being residential programs requiring a more immersive stay on campus, and the other 10 are commuter academies for students to attend during the day. Each academy is centered around exposing students to the cutting edge of STEM fields, as per the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
For students eager to explore new horizons this summer, the application process has now opened. Living in dorms, for some students, will provide a glimpse of campus life while they engage closely with advanced technology and innovative academic concepts. For those attending as commuters, these daily treks to campus serve as a bridge between academic pursuits and the routine of their everyday lives. Details regarding specific programs and application instructions can be found at the official Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education website.
