A shooting incident in west Detroit earlier today resulted in one fatality and left another individual in critical condition. The Detroit Police Department was dispatched to the 15000 block of Forrer Street at approximately 2:25 a.m. following reports of gunfire. According to police officials, a dispute escalated into what was characterized as, "a gun battle between friends and family," resulting in multiple shots fired and the deadly outcome, as reported by The Detroit News.

According to WXYZ, in the confrontation, two brothers were fatally shot after an argument with a roommate turned violent. Sources state that the initial shooting occurred within the home and continued onto the front lawn, where the second brother lost his life, neighbors reported hearing as many as 40 shots throughout the night. The victims, aged 32 and 35, both had children; the younger leaving behind a 3-year-old, and the elder, a 10-year-old and a 1-year-old.

Following the incident, three individuals were taken to the police precinct for questioning, and police found spent bullet casings both inside and outside the home. Commander Dietrich Lever addressed the media, stating the investigation is ongoing and officers are actively searching for clues to further understand the events that led to the shooting.

FOX 2 Detroit reported a separate individual at the scene was also taken to the hospital due to chest pains. The motive behind the shooting is still being investigated, the number of rounds fired, and the number of weapons found at the scene remain unconfirmed.
