A fire erupted in an apartment building in Millvale, injuring one person who had to be transported to a hospital. WPXI reported that the incident began last night at the Regency House Apartments on 1 Howard Street. The Allegheny County dispatchers confirmed that firefighters responded to the emergency call at approximately 7:03 p.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, the Seville Volunteer Fire Company quickly addressed the blaze, stating on social media that it had achieved a quick knock on a fire in the basement level of the building. Initially, there were reports of someone being trapped inside, but officials have confirmed the individual could safely get out, as reported by WTAE. Smoke from the fire was visible from the exterior of the building.
Other residents of the apartment were evacuated as part of the emergency response. Firefighters then proceeded to ventilate the building to ensure it was safe for tenants to return. As of the last reports, the condition of the hospitalized individual has not been made public. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by authorities.
