
Early this morning, a 2024 Ford Escape was discovered submerged in a creek in Crockery Township, but the driver was nowhere to be found. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and Crockery Township Fire Department responded to the scene around 1:45 a.m. after reports of the submerged vehicle at the intersection of Leonard Street and 112th Avenue. According to WZZM 13, "Investigators say a 2024 Ford Escape had been southeast when the driver crashed through the guardrail during a turn."
No individuals were found inside the already submerged vehicle or the surrounding area, prompting officials to pull the car from a watery grave. Crews on the scene, which included divers, investigated but came up empty-handed in their search for the escaped driver. As reported by WOODTV, "Deputies told News 8 that they believe the driver left and are not looking for anyone in the water."
With the driver's whereabouts still a mystery, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office is calling upon anyone with any information to step forward.
