Heads up, night owls and early birds, the Colorado Department of Transportation has announced a series of overnight closures along Powers Boulevard between March 10 and 13. This comes as part of the ongoing bridge construction that aims to lay down bridge deck panels over Powers Boulevard. Each closure is planned to last around seven to nine hours, a necessary pause in the daily bustle to ensure the safety of everyone traveling and working, according to CDOT.
The closures will affect only one direction of Powers Boulevard at a time, allowing traffic to alternate and somewhat mitigate congestion and disruption. To be specific, southbound lanes will be closed on March 10 and 12 from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., and northbound lanes will experience closures on March 11 and 13, starting at 8 p.m. and reopening at 5 a.m. As always, Colorado's ever-changing weather could quickly change these plans, so keep an eye out for updates on the message boards around the site. All lanes will be cleared up before the morning rush kicks in.
To help manage the unavoidable hassle of detours, traffic control officers and flaggers will be on duty to direct vehicles along alternate routes. Southbound traffic will be detoured via East Platte Avenue, Academy Boulevard, and Airport Road. Similarly, northbound drivers will be redirected using Airport Road and Stewart Avenue. As part of these efforts, detailed detour maps are available on the CDOT website to make sure you can easily navigate around the closures, as detailed by CDOT.
