A man was found deceased after firefighters extinguished a severe house fire in Pasadena, Anne Arundel County, with officials indicating the fire was set intentionally by the individual before taking his own life. On Sunday, a neighbor alerted authorities to the blaze at 857 North Shore Drive, as stated in a press release from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
The fire department units arrived on the scene within five minutes of the call and had to quickly set up a defensive operation to suppress the extensive fire, which they managed to bring under control by 3:55 a.m. It has been reported that around 45 fire personnel were in attendance. While battling the flames, responders found the man's body in the residence, an incident confirmed by a county statement.
Fire investigators, alongside the Office of the State Medical Examiner, concluded that the man had intentionally ignited the fire in his home and then died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
