
Agencies across the country are recognizing First Responder Wellness. The Pierce County Sheriff's Department is focusing on its Wellness Program, which includes physical fitness and tactical training. New initiatives, such as office staff mobility classes, fitness training for new hires, and specialized tactical training, are being introduced to support the department's personnel and improve their ability to serve the community, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
The agency stated in a blog post the importance of preparing personnel for their roles. "By focusing on cardiovascular health, strength, agility, and flexibility – as well as situational awareness, defensive tactics, and weapon proficiency, fostering both physical and mental health, we can equip our personnel with the readiness necessary to serve and protect our community safely and effectively," the post explained.
