The Pittsburgh Police, aided by the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force, apprehended 24-year-old Melik Johnson on multiple felony warrants. Johnson, a Pittsburgh local, faced a warrant for an incident dating back to August 7, 2024, when he allegedly participated in the robbery of a firearm on Mulford St., among other charges.
According to the Public Safety Blotter released by the City of Pittsburgh, the litany of charges against Johnson includes Robbery, Criminal Conspiracy, Theft by Unlawful Taking, and Possession of Instruments of a Crime. He was also implicated in a vehicle theft in the South Side Flats area on September 24, 2024, where he evaded police in a stolen vehicle before abandoning it and fleeing on foot. During that incident, officers later discovered a gun inside the vehicle where Johnson had been before escaping.
In relation to the vehicle theft, Johnson faces additional charges: Receiving Stolen Property, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Theft by Unlawful taking, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia, Carrying a Loaded Weapon, and multiple summary traffic violations.
After his arrest, Johnson was taken to the Allegheny County Jail, where he will await due proceedings for the alleged crimes.
