Spring cleaning in Plymouth is getting a communal twist this year, with the city's Drop-Off Days scheduled for April 25-26 at the Plymouth Maintenance Facility, located at 14900 23rd Ave. N. A service for local residents, the event is designed to ease the burden of disposing unwanted household items, ranging from bicycles to mattresses. As per the details shared by the City of Plymouth's announcement, different types of items will be collected on each day to streamline the process and cut down on wait times.
Hours for the two-day event are from 3-6 p.m. on Friday for dropping off free items, and from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday for both free and pay items. It's important to note, identification will be required for proof of Plymouth residency. On the first day, residents can bring bicycles, textiles, paper for shredding, and several other specific items free of charge. However, on Saturday, both free and pay items will be accepted, including tires, electronics, and large furniture. Moreover, a discount is in place for those who choose to prepay online for these pay items.
There's an incentive to play ahead, with discounts available for those who prepay for drop-off of pay items. According to the City's website, fees range from $40 to $300 with prepayment, offering savings up to $25 depending on the vehicle and the load. Residents aiming for the discount should prepay by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 25 to secure the reduced rate. Payment on the day can be made either with credit card or cash, exact change preferred.
The event organizers have also shared details on how to access the drop-off site. Traffic will be directed to turn onto Fernbrook Lane from Highway 55, while entry from County Road 6 will not be an option. For a smoother traffic flow and better preparation, visitors can view a map and packing guide on the Plymouth website. While the city has made improvements to reduce wait times, they still advise attendees to plan for possible delays due to the popularity of the event. It's crucial for safety, that visitors stay in their vehicles while at the drop-off site.
Finally, it's worth noting that the Plymouth Yard Waste and Recycling Drop-Off sites will be closed during these two days to accommodate the event. For further information on accepted items, vehicle packing tips, and other FAQs, residents can visit the event's detailed page provided by the city's official web portal.
