In a recent turn of events in Pomona, a man was arrested following the fatal shooting of 31-year-old James Bunch. According to the Pomona Police Department, Bunch was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds on March 4, around 7:40 p.m., in the 1600 block of Indian Hill Boulevard, Nixle reported.
Law enforcement officials responded promptly to the scene and provided aid, but despite their efforts, Bunch later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The Pomona PD Major Crimes Unit took charge of the investigation, and they quickly identified 30-year-old Jose Oquendo Jr. as the prime suspect, as reported by KTLA. Oquendo, a resident of Pomona with a prior criminal record, was soon apprehended and charged with murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office took action on March 10, formally filing charges against Oquendo. He is now being held on a $3.05 million bail. The specifics behind the shooting are still under scrutiny, the motifs driving the events that night remain cloudy.
