On a concerted mission to crack down on organized retail theft, the Portland Police Bureau, backed by the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, swooped in on Tuesday to execute search warrants at three locations, ensnaring a horde of evidence as part of an on-going investigation as reported by the City of Portland.

The focus of the probe was Card Rhino/Next Level Cards on Northeast Halsey Street in Portland, where it's alleged that the business engaged in selling goods suspected to be stolen, including new-in-box merchandise and ill-gotten gift cards bootlegged from returns of stolen items their business operations, seemingly a cog in the machine of illicit commerce, spanned across eBay and Amazon. In the seizure, officials toted away over 1,000 pieces of evidence, which included about $14,000 in cash, valuables like gold and silver, and a swath of new-in-box items that are being inventoried, as per the City of Portland.

At a time when retail theft rings cast a long shadow over communities, Chief Bob Day expressed a profound appreciation for the unyielding efforts of the law enforcement teams, a sentiment echoed by District Attorney Nathan Vasquez, who said, "Together with our partners in law enforcement and the retail business community, we continue to focus on the problem of retail theft and its impact in Multnomah County," as stated by the City of Portland.

A collective nod of gratitude was offered by the PPB and the District Attorney’s Office to the Vancouver Police Department, Tualatin Police Department, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, the PPB’s Special Emergency Reaction Team, and several retailers for their integral roles in the investigation that continues unabated, with no arrests yet as the force forges on in pursuit of justice and the case remains actively unwinding.
