A Mexican national with a history of criminal convictions has been arrested once more in El Paso, according to federal authorities. Clemente Galvez-Alapisco, 47, originally from Sinaloa, Mexico, faces charges related to his alleged illegal re-entry into the United States.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Texas announced that Galvez-Alapisco had been deported twice prior, the most recent deportation occurring on June 28, 2022, after a conviction for indecency with a child. In addition to his past convictions, Galvez-Alapisco was also found guilty of illegal re-entry in July 2019, which resulted in a five-month and 11-day sentence.
If convicted on the current charge, Galvez-Alapisco could face up to 10 years in federal prison. If that happens, sentencing will be in the hands of a federal district court judge who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines along with other relevant statutory factors.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Patricia Aguayo is leading the prosecution against Galvez-Alapisco, the U.S. Attorney's Office reported.
