In a significant shake-up to a decades-old tradition, Pride St. Louis faces a substantial funding deficit for the upcoming PrideFest after Anheuser-Busch, a longstanding corporate backer, pulled its sponsorship. The beverage company's departure from over 30 years of supporting the festival has left the event $150,000 short compared to previous year's budget, First Alert 4 reported.
Moving forward amidst financial uncertainties, Pride St. Louis has initiated #45for45, a fundraiser that underscores 45 years of advocacy within the LGBTQIA community. Marty Zuniga, President of Pride St. Louis, shared with FOX 2 Now, "While we are deeply disappointed that Anheuser-Busch has chosen to step away from supporting PrideFest this year, we remain hopeful that the community will step up where they have stepped down."
The historical partnership dissolution arrives as other sponsors have reduced their contributions, as indicated by a statement from Pride St. Louis covered by 9 News. Despite these financial hurdles, the organization is committed to not cancelling PrideFest, which boasts the Grand Parade—the largest parade in St. Louis—and will be held from June 28 to 29 at Soldiers Memorial Park in downtown St. Louis.
Contributions to #45for45 foster the mission of Pride St. Louis, with donors of $45 or more receiving a 45th-anniversary commemorative lapel pin. "Every contribution directly supports the mission of Pride St. Louis and the work it does throughout the year," as reflected in a statement obtained by 9 News. The community is urged to partake in the legacy of inclusivity and celebration, ensuring that PrideFest's vibrancy continues unabated for coming years.
