Travelers looking to embark on a voyage from Galveston with Princess Cruises will need to reassess their plans for the latter part of 2026 going into 2027. The cruise line has announced the cancellation of all its trips for the Majestic Princess out of Galveston during this period, as confirmed in a statement to KHOU 11. Princess Cruises attributes these changes to its "broader global fleet deployment strategy." The company has made it clear that passengers affected by the cancellations will be given full refunds and assistance with alternative cruise options.
Galveston, a bustling port for those setting sail or returning from Caribbean jaunts, has found its scheduled Princess Cruises significantly altered. USA Today reported the scrapping of at least a dozen voyages scheduled to depart between November 2026 and March 2027, which Princess corroborated. Moreover, Princess Cruises informed USA Today, "We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause our guests and appreciate their understanding as we work to enhance our global cruise offerings."
While the Majestic Princess faces a sudden hiatus from its Galveston operations, sister ship Regal Princess will continue its scheduled voyages from the Texas port. This includes a confirmed cruise slated for March 15, 2026. Long-standing patrons of Princess Cruises might recall that the company resumed its Galveston operations in 2022 after a six-year break, with the Regal Princess sailing to and from Galveston since 2023.
In the fall of 2024, Princess Cruises confronted challenges when the Regal Princess encountered technical difficulties resulting in the cancellation of three sailings. This led to the ship remaining docked in Galveston for several weeks, during which crucial work was completed to address power generator issues. "Our team has worked diligently to ensure Regal Princess is fully operational and ready to deliver a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable cruise experience," said Princess in a statement posted in November 2024.
