Set to serve patrons at a to-be-disclosed location, Pronto Pup, known for its non-traditional take on corn dogs, is slated to begin operations in May. While the specific opening date remains undetermined, the business anticipates a grand opening at some point during the month, with availability three days a week from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., as detailed by FOX 17.
The storefront's announcement follows the brand's expansion from a mobile operation with two food trucks and a pup-up tent to a more stationary presence within the local community. Andy Bogart, the owner and operator, shared with WOOD TV his intention to solely open the storefront for lunch hours to effectively capture the lunch crowd and summer rush without incurring the costs associated with year-round operations.
The considerable buzz surrounding Pronto Pup's iteration of the corn dog, lauded for its unique taste and crispy texture, has helped the Grand Rapids-based operation to carve out a niche in the local food market. A stark contrast to traditional corn dogs' fluffy, sweet batter, Pronto Pup's versions include the "Beer City Pup," among other variations, spicing up the concept with creative twists.
Pronto Pup's new location will operate as a ghost kitchen, sharing space with another existing Eastown or East Grand Rapids business. Although the identity of the partnering shop is still under wraps, Bogart plans to announce it in April.
