
Pueblo County high school seniors looking for some extra cash for college might want to thank Sheriff David J. Lucero. He's announced that the County Sheriffs of Colorado, Inc. (CSOC) is offering a $1,000 scholarship to one student in the area, as part of a state-wide initiative to support education and training for youth. This is the 47th year CSOC has been empowering students financially to chase after their academic dreams.
Since its inception in 1978, the scholarship program run by the state Sheriffs Association is no small endeavor this year, more than 30 counties across Colorado will be granting scholarships through this program which shows a deep commitment from our sheriffs to investing in the future leaders of our society, the recipients are picked not only for their academic achievements but also for their leadership, merit, character, involvement, and their clear sense of career purpose. According to the scholarship guidelines, there's no limit to what field they can pursue, and it's open to all, unrestricted by race, creed, age, sex, or national origin, so get your applications in before the March 17 deadline if you meet the criteria, as noted by Pueblo County Sheriff's Office.
Interested students can head over to the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office website to download the application.
