Despite the setback, UH starting pitcher Liam O'Brien extended his scoreless innings streak to 11.0 and maintained a perfect earned run record through 21.1 innings pitched this season. For the Highlanders, the series win represented a notable turnaround after a difficult 6-24 record in league play last year and being predicted to finish last in the Big West this season. Meanwhile, the 'Bows have little time to recover, as they are scheduled to host Chaminade on Tuesday at Les Murakami Stadium before facing nationally-ranked UC Santa Barbara over the weekend, which presents an even greater challenge given the Gauchos' current form.
Despite the challenging series, Ben Zeigler-Namoa stood out for UH at the plate in the finale, going 3-for-5 and contributing to a brief rally during the eighth inning. The Rainbow Warriors will now focus on preparing for the upcoming matchup against the Gauchos lineup this weekend.
