After a brief hiatus, Ralph Lauren has returned to San Francisco with a swanky new store in Jackson Square, reviving its roots in the city. According to an announcement on Ralph Lauren's LinkedIn, the fashion giant's latest North American store brings an immersive shopping experience to 441 Jackson Street. It features men's and women's apparel from Polo Ralph Lauren and Double RL lines alongside handpicked vintage items.
Previously occupying locations at 2040 Fillmore Street, which closed in 2020, and another in the Crocker Galleria that shut down in 2013, Ralph Lauren is now choosing to reintroduce its brand to the vibrant West Coast market strategically. The storefront's dark green façade peppered with hand-painted gold leaf and brass signage is reported by the SF Chronicle to reflect a blend of the neighborhood's historic charm and modern elegance, a design choice aiming to fit seamlessly with Jackson Square's aesthetic, with its stained oak floors and white-painted brick walls having replaced the former women's apparel brand Senreve.
The location at Jackson Square, a district seeped in California Gold Rush heritage, seems particularly apt for Ralph Lauren’s renewed presence. While other retailers have been retreating from nearby Union Square, Jackson Square has drawn numerous luxury brands like Paul Smith, Isabel Marant, and Zimmermann to its quarters.
"The opening of Polo Ralph Lauren in Jackson Square is a testament to the neighborhood’s growing appeal as a premier destination for retail," Robbie Silver, president and CEO of the Downtown SF Partnership, per SF Chronicle. "This addition reinforces the district’s momentum, bringing a globally recognized brand into the mix while complementing the unique character of Jackson Square. It’s another exciting step in the ongoing revitalization of our city’s core." These sentiments reflect the store’s value to the brand and Jackson Square’s burgeoning status as a shopping destination.
Consumers can now visit the Ralph Lauren store, which is already open for business, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays, offering shoppers a variety of times to immerse themselves in the world of Ralph Lauren in this storied slice of San Francisco.
