A Rochester man has received a hefty 21-year sentence for the production of child sexual abuse material. As reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota, Kevyn Bradley Heath, 28, was convicted for crimes involving the sexual abuse of infant and toddler victims who were under his care.
Within the bleak framework of these events, between November 19, 2023, and December 31, 2023, Heath exploited his position of trust to produce and later distribute harrowing content through the online platform Discord. This breach of innocence did not go unnoticed, leading to his guilty plea on November 7, 2024, for one count of production of child pornography.
During the sentencing, Heath was not only given prison time but was also placed under 10 years of supervised release. Adding to this, Heath is obligated to pay restitution to the tune of $106,000. Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick minced no words when she noted, "Child abusers who commit horrific sex crimes and then document that abuse in pictures and videos are among the most vile offenders we prosecute." She vowed that her office would "continue to stand up for the victims of sexual abuse and seek only the strongest of sentences against defendants who commit these terrible crimes."
This case sprang from the collaborative efforts of the Rochester Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations, as part of Project Safe Childhood - an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. The multi-layered program has aimed to strengthen the fight against the disturbingly prevalent issue of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew D. Forbes prosecuted the case, as announced by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
